Dr. Jesse Leontowicz has made significant contributions to his community through diverse volunteer initiatives, demonstrating a deep commitment to helping others. Below is an overview of his most impactful efforts:
Over the past five years, Dr. Leontowicz has volunteered with the Regina Public Library, working with individuals from varied backgrounds, including new immigrants and professionals seeking career transitions. He provided English lessons, career planning advice, and support with resumes and cover letters. His work has positively impacted over 300 new immigrants, including those with advanced degrees such as PhDs, MDs, and MBAs, helping them integrate into Canadian society and secure meaningful employment. His dedication was celebrated at a Volunteer Appreciation Luncheon, where he received a 5-Year Service Award in the presence of the Mayor of Regina.
As a co-lead organizer of this charity auction, Dr. Leontowicz helped raise $7,100 for the Student Wellness Initiative Toward Community Health (SWITCH). This organization provides vital health and social services to underserved populations in Saskatoon, fostering wellness and community support.
Dr. Leontowicz hosted and emceed a professional health colleges’ talent show, raising $2,100 for the Saskatoon Crisis Nursery. The funds supported this organization’s mission to provide emergency respite care for children and families in crisis.
In this impactful initiative, Dr. Leontowicz joined four other University of Regina students to experience homelessness firsthand, raising awareness about the challenges faced by those living without stable housing. Their efforts raised an impressive $19,000 for homeless support programs, bringing attention to this critical social issue.
As a member of the Canadian Ski Patrol System, Dr. Leontowicz provided first aid and rescue services at Mission Ridge Resort (SK) and Big White (BC). His volunteer work ensured the safety and well-being of skiers and snowboarders during the winter seasons.
Dr. Leontowicz independently created and organized two charity paintball tournaments, raising approximately $1,500 to support Kids Help Phone and the Children’s Hospital Foundation of Saskatchewan. These events combined fun and philanthropy to make a meaningful difference in the lives of children and youth.
